Speed Dating What is Speed Dating?
Speed dating is a matchmaking process available to everyone, but which started in the United States as a way to ensure that more Jewish singles met each other in large cities where they were outnumbered by non-Jews.
Proponents feel that speed dating saves time, as most people decide if they are romantically compatible very quickly, and first impressions are usually permanent.
How does speed dating work?
Men and women are typically rotated to meet each other for only eight minutes each, and are then forced to the next meeting regardless of whether they are enjoying the interaction.
At the conclusion of the evening, speed daters then submit a list to the event organizers of those people they'd would like to see again.
If both parties list each other, there is a match and phone numbers are forwarded.
I have a number of friends who have tried this method of meeting dating partners, and regardless of the outcome, all reported that speed dating is a LOT of FUN!
