Most single women at one point or other have experienced the difficulty of meeting a guy or even finding a guy they like. Let’s face it, there are work hours, friends to meet up with and chat to, family to consider and keep in touch with, and all the little bits and pieces you have to do on a daily basis. They all take up time.

What are some of the secrets to finding Mr Right? Try these few tips for solutions. Some are apparent but are you doing them?

Open the front door and get outside! It doesn’t really matter what the plan is here just get out and do something. Some great relationships have started in the supermarket. I haven’t met anyone yet who met their partner while wandering around the kitchen.
Always look your best as much as possible. You’ll be surprised when Mr Cute turns up. I know a number of friends who met their guy walking the dog in the park. The bus stop is another. When he does turn up, you’ll want to be looking your best is my point. One of my customers met her husband while cycling around the block.
Online dating is now very popular. Yes I know there are millions of dating sites and that poses a problem. Type in ‘dating site reviews’ in Google. There are (thankfully) pretty nifty review sites (Sage-Hearts.com is one of those sites) that make that task pretty easy now as some of you already know. When you sign up to a few (yes a few) make sure you give an honest profile. Read the safety articles on dating - there are many available. They’ll make you feel a lot more secure and you’ll be able to carry out secure dating correspondence in no time. Once you’ve set your profile, the chances are high that you’ll find someone who has the same interests you have. Email exchange via the site usually is the next step. If you haven’t already, give it a shot, you’ll be impressed.
Community involvement is another avenue where there is regular success with finding a partner. There are so many different organizations and volunteer type work where you can meet others it’s almost overwhelming. You can simply type in the words volunteer work into Google and your suburb and you’ll most likely have more results than you can handle.
Join a tennis or a golf club. If neither of those meet your fancy, look up the department of recreation in your area. There are too many sporting choices to mention here.
One thing that can become disappointing and is most often the cause of failure when you do find Mr Right, is not knowing what to do or say. Even attracting attention is a skill along with encouraging someone to like you.

Cindy’s Tips for Dating Safety

When I began meeting men in person I was very concerned about my safety. I set the following rules for myself …

I always verified their name and employment – without them knowing. During the phone conversation I would be sure to get their first and last name and where they worked. Then I would look up their work either online or in my local phone book. I would phone up and say “May I please speak to so and so.”

I always got their phone number and called them at least once. That way I knew that whoever had that phone number somehow knew whom I talked to.

I always met them at a public place for breakfast. Usually at a Denny’s restaurant that was a block away from my best friend..

I left the following information with my friend:

Name of person I was meeting
The home number I had
Their place of employment
What kind of car they had (I asked for this info before meeting so I could be on the look out for a blue Honda or whatever.)
What time we were meeting. If I didn’t call my friend within 1 hour of meeting time she was instructed to call the police.

Naturally you can always do a background check on them. And with the information you slyly gather they never have to know.

I was never in a hurry to meet anyone. You can really get to know a lot about someone through emails and phone calls. Ask them the same questions at different times and different ways.

Let’s say they told you they are a machinist at xyz company – on one of your next conversation you might say “So how long have you worked at ZYX?” to see if they correct you. Or ask them what they like about being a machinist etc.

I was amazed by some of the emails I received while I was a member of Matchmaker. At the time I was a single Mom of 2 teen-agers and making $9. /hour as a receptionist (and I smoked). I received an email from a supposedly high paid top notch attorney who detested smoking, saying how much we had in common. This sent up red flags so I just replied that I was not interested.

Be safe out there – Hey guys this means for you too. I don’t know what the statistics are, but men can be at risk too. My husband is 6’3” and weighs 300 pounds – yet he also practiced safety rules. He said you never knew if a woman might be working with some one who could sneak up behind him, knock him over the head and rob him.

Listen to your gut feeling. If something doesn’t feel quite right, it probably isn’t. Have your own set of rules before meeting in person for the first time – STAY SAFE!!!

Cougar Dating: New Reality TV Show

Just when we thought (and fervently hoped) that the permutations of reality dating shows had been completely exhausted, the producers of ‘The Bachelor’ have announced a new dating show for women who are 40 plus.

The show will follow a group of young men vying for the heart of an glamorous, older, more mature woman. Like the “Bachelor” series, the suitors will engage in a series of challenges, and each week one unlucky in love contestant will get booted off the show by the bachelorette.

A casting call for the Untitled Cougar Project (the show’s working title) series is currently underway in Los Angeles and the show is slated for an early 2009 debut.

Included below is a love story that Cindy recently sent to me and to the left is a picture of she and Mike on their 2nd date taken in December 1997.

About the picture, Cindy says “This was the first largemouth bass I ever caught…” but it looks like she caught something MUCH better that day!
In September 1997 I was playing around on the internet and came across Matchmaker. Thinking it was a cool site, I thought it would be an easy way to meet men.

Earlier that year I had left a 20 year marriage and was really interested in finding out what men were all about.

I completed their questionnaire and the last question … “Why did you sign up?”

I answered “Just Curious.”

Based on my answers I was matched up to several different men. I exchanged emails and phone calls with quite a few guys. I even met a few of them in person – though I was extremely cautious and had a few set rules I followed.

One of my top matches was Mike. I read his answers several times and laughed each time I read it. I kept debating – should I email this guy or not. Finally I decided to go ahead and email him … BEST choice I ever made. As I emailed him on the last day of his subscription to Matchmaker and he wasn’t planning on resigning.

We began emailing each other daily. I loved his sense of humor! He made me laugh like I hadn’t in ages. After about a month of emailing we decided to talk on the phone.

You see Mike was also being cautious – as he states “There’s a lot of crazy women out there too!”.

Our first phone conversation was Eight hours!!! Mike had strep-throat at the time and I’m sure we didn’t help it heal any faster. J The next night we talked 6 hours. The third night we talked 4 hours and the fourth night we talked for 6 hours again.

It was at that time, that I told Mike, I couldn’t afford the phone bill! (Remember – we didn’t have the luxury of cell phones or google talk at the time.) Mike continued to call me every single day. His phone bill was averaging over $300. a month!

We spoke on the phone for about a month before we met in person. He lived 200 miles from me, so we decided to meet in the middle – in the city of Victorville.

We met for breakfast and then played miniature golf. We spent hours just talking in his truck. Before we parted he picked me a red rose. He made me feel like Cinderella at the ball.

On our second date we went fishing and I introduced him to my best friend. I caught my first largemouth bass.

We dated for a couple of years before I moved in with him.

We were married on May 10, 2003.

He is truly my soul-mate. I thank God for him every day.

How to Say “I Love You” on Valentine’s Day

St. Valentine’s Day falls on February 14th each and every year. It is the day set aside for telling those that you love that you do love them. It’s not a bad idea when you think about it. We get busy. Life intrudes upon love. We get so busy and so involved in all of the various aspects of life that it is easy to forget to tell that special someone just how special they really are to us.

There are many ways to say “I love you”.

A romantic dinner for two….a quiet evening with Champaign toasts to love eternal and beautiful romantic music playing in the background…..a magical vacation to an exotic location……sending red roses, chocolate and a romantic card….giving a gift of heart shaped jewelry….all of these are special ways to tell your special love just how loved they are.

I think one of the secrets of successfully conveying feelings of true love on Valentine’s Day or any other day is in knowing the other person well enough to know what to choose.

Showing up on the doorstep of your lady love with a bottle of wine or Champaign only to discover that she doesn’t drink… AT ALL… is a long way from conveying romantic feelings.

Giving a gift of large dangling earrings when she would never wear anything but studs isn’t romantic either. Sending her a large (no matter how expensive) box of chocolates when she is allergic to chocolate isn’t going to tell her that you love her. It will only serve to tell her that you don’t know anything about her and don’t care enough to find out.

Remember that Valentine’s Day is a day for expressing love and love means caring enough to know the other person well enough to choose a gift or an occasion that will truly please them.
